Stories of Life Change
One encounter with Jesus changes everything! Here are three stories of how your generosity has impacted lives in a nation devastated by drought and famine.
#1: Women Eating Leaves Receive Food
“These women are feeding their children leaves.”
I had to read that sentence three times before it sank in. It is hard for us in the West, with cupboards and refrigerators full of food, to imagine having nothing to eat but leaves. A three-year drought has led to one of the worst famines in Africa in 40 years.
Jesus does not look away from suffering, and neither can we. Mothers Christine and Lucia have been struggling with hunger and surviving on tree leaves. One mother feeds her sick child seeds from the tree.
We sent money to Pastor Godfrey for food outreach, and these two women received posho (maize flour), potatoes, milk, soya beans, and sugar. They were so thankful.
During this food outreach, over 500 people gathered to hear the Gospel and 32 gave their lives to Christ! Pastor Sam, Pastor Godfrey, and Sarah prayed for the sick, cast out demons, and saw God transform lives!
#2: Encountering Jesus in Prison
We delivered 70 Ateso Bibles to every woman in Soroti Prison. With these Bibles, God is planting seeds of hope, joy, and freedom in Uganda’s prisons.
Field Report:
We had a great day yesterday at Soroti prisons as we sang, worshiped, and prayed for about 70 inmates in the women’s section. The Lord moved in amazing ways as I stood up to preach. I saw the sobbing, and eventually, there was silence in the room for about ten minutes as the Holy Spirit was ministering to both the guards and inmates alike. They responded in prayer, and after the corporate prayer, I called for a response to salvation, and three gave their lives to Christ!
#3: Witch Doctor Meets Jesus
During outreach in Karamoja, a witch doctor named Agnes surrendered her life to Jesus! Thank you, God, for transferring her from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light! This is a big testimony as witch doctors are spiritual leaders in their communities. Agnes burned all of her witchcraft and therefore lost all prospects of making money. Her husband and clan persecuted her, leaving her with five children to care for. Her only request was school fees for her oldest child Joppista to finish her education at the Senior Four level.
Praise God: thanks to your generous support, we sent money for Joppista’s boarding school and supplies. What a testimony to this family that God is indeed a wonderful Father and provider! We gave Agnes a solar audio Bible and she started a listening group. She already led five women to faith in Christ and is bringing many more to church each week! Look what the Lord can do!
